You need to be exceptionally careful before purchasing a laptop computer because you probably will have this laptop computer for a long time. You will need to choose an operating platform when reviewing laptop notebooks–either a Windows platform or a Macintosh platform. Both are great but Windows works a bit faster than the Macs. However, Macs can be easier to use than
Windows once you are used to the Macs platform. You should definitely consider all of your files and software that you currently use. Are they based in Windows or Macintosh? Sometimes, these files and software dictate exactly what platform that you need to choose.
There are many, many brands of laptop notebooks. The most common laptop computer brands are Hewlett Packard, IBM, Toshiba, Gateway, Dell, Sony, and the Apple by Macintosh. Try to review each of the laptop notebook models within each of these brands. This will be time well spent.
There are some essential hardware pieces that you should definitely have on your laptop notebook. With the price of random access memory, (RAM), being so cheap these days, it is wise to buy as much RAM as possible. Having sufficient RAM will make your laptop notebook run much quicker and with less problems. Also, purchase at least four universal serial bus, (USBs) ports. These ports will allow your computer to communicate with many peripheral devices such as printers, scanners, cameras, card readers and GPSs. I feel that you almost never can have enough of them.
It is also a good idea to not only buy a simple CD player but also a CD player that burns CDs on your laptop computer. Or, better yet, a CD/DVD burner that also plays and burns CDs as well as DVDs, a newer disk format. You can easily burn megabytes of information on them so that you can back up your files. You can also transfer such information to another laptop notebook if you would like. Additionally, you can burn music and movies on these disks to play on your CD players or DVD players. But, please do comply with all Copyright laws.
There are some other miscellaneous items that you should also consider when buying a laptop computer. They include whether or not to purchase upgraded audio and video components. Consider buying high performance graphics and sound cards. Some of these cards even come with their own separate co-processors. These cards will allow your programs and games to run quickly and flawlessly when high demands are by them. Another item to consider when purchasing a laptop computer is to purchase a broad band Internet connection. With such connection, you will always be ready for high broad band Internet and your laptop computer will never be the slowest point in the Internet pipeline.
